This informational picture book gives details about various historical tornadoes. This book also explains how to be prepared for tornado emergencies. In addition to the formation of tornadoes, various statistics are scattered throughout the book. Storm chasers and equipment are also defined. Overall, this is a great book to introduce and explain tornadoes. This is a great book for 8-10 year olds. ( )

This book is a great science text for learning many different components of tornadoes. One of the pages explains in detail about different ways a tornado can be tracked. This book is also a good book to expand vocabulary. The text has challenging words allowing students to use context clues or rationale to try to identify what the text is referring to.

I gave this book a 5/5 star rating. I think this is a really good informative book. You are able to learn a lot from this book. It gives really good information and also pictures. You can understand what a tornado is and what they will look like. In this book it has a lot of smaller sections that give you really good facts. Also there is a story put into this book that you can follow along with. I like that this book has the story and also the facts and pictures. It really catches your attention with so much information in the book itself. This is a story that you can have your students read and see what information they take away from the text. ( )

This book is for high level readers. The information, language, and vocabulary are very challenging and can be used as a guided reading book. It is based on historical events of places that were devastated by tornadoes. Each section explains the damaged caused, number of people injured, and provides many facts about tornadoes such as how they are formed and their speed and mileage. There are photographs on each page to help readers visualize a tornado's form and its destruction. There are tons of information for the reader to digest on each page which can be used in a guided reading discussion with questions about a tornado's physical features, how the people and environments are impacted, cause/effect, and characteristic events. *GUIDED READING*
This is a great guide reading text. This text includes informational photos, captions, settings, subtitles, characters, descriptive attributes, characteristic events, and compare and contrast. This book could prove to be syntactically challenging. This would be a great book for bilingual readers among 5th-6th grade reading levels. ( )
