"Desperate times call for a darker team of X-Men! With mutantkind in extinction's crosshairs once more, Magneto leads a group of the deadliest that homo superior has to offer to fight for the fate of their species! Refusing to accept even one more mutant death, the most ruthless possessors of the X-gene on Earth --deadly warriors such as Sabretooth, Fantomex, Mystique and Psylocke -- have banded together to proactively mow down their enemies. But with a team populated by killers, can they stay away from each other's throats long enough to take down their targets? And can the Master of Magnetism curb his own homicidal instincts long enough to find out who's trying to speed up mutantkind's descent into the grave? It's X-Men with the emphasis on Uncanny!" -- page 4 of cover.… (more)

This was so boring. The art by Greg "I trace porn" Land is, well, traced, static, boring, poses. There's no movement. No action. Hell, there's literally like 3 faces and 7 poses across all 5 issues of this arc. Bunn has turned Monet into a hyper-sexualised caricature of herself which is made much worse by Land drawing her in exactly the same pose panel after panel, issue after issue, no matter what's happening. The rest of the characters are fine? Honestly, with a competent artist this might've been ok, a mediocre 2-3 star story. But instead, it's just boring lazy crap. Especially when compared to the very excellent other books coming out at the same time. At least Ken Lashley takes over for the Apocalypse Wars, I don't know how much more Land nonsense I can handle... ( )

Artwork is fine but the story is just meh for me. ( )

2.5 rating, 3 because it has people I like in it and if your not a fan of X-men your rating will probably be lower.

This is the start of a new Uncanny X-men team. It was an easy read, but nothing great, barely above an average story. I don't like what has been done with the X-men teams during this time period. Lately they haven't been great, just average stories mixed in with bad ones.

I'll probably read volume 2 at some point because I like X-men and they did setup some stuff for the future volumes but it's not a book that is get right away pile. Since Marvel in in those years are trashing X-men in favor of Inhuman.

If anybody is wondering why Sabretooth is different, in a previous event of Axis he was changed. I won't spoil how, if you haven't read the event. I'm a little confused about Archangel and wondering if I missed something about his current state or forgot because X-men have been bland in this time period of releases. ( )
