I kind of feel like this series is getting back to the things I so enjoyed about the series at first. I really wasn't feeling all the couples Marguerite was setting up. Here the hero and heroine met by happenstance. I loved the whole action packed adventure the two of them had. The book wasn't overwhelmed with sex scenes which have bogged down some of the others that I didn't enjoy so much. There was just enough of some of the other characters we're familiar with to make me happy and I always love to see Lucian since he remains my favorite. The heroine here, Abigail, was particularly fun. She was super smart and started figuring out the vampire/immortal thing on her own. She was fun and accepting. There was humor in the book and I smiled throughout. These stories do follow a certain path, usually woman meets man, one of them is an immortal blood drinker, they discover that this person is their fated mate and theres an event that sparks a forced becoming an Immortal situation, hijinks ensue; this doesn't stray far from that well-beaten track. This is the sory of Tomasso Notte who is kidnapped and on his way to be experimented on when Abigail Forsythe finds him. Her bank accounts depleated and her mother's death hanging over her like a shadow, her friend Jet decides that she needs a break and this flight he's doing is a perfect moment for her to have a break from her current life. What happens takes her away from her current life and gives her a new future. It was a fun light read that kept me up past my bedtime. Listened via audiobook, hoping I would enjoy it more via audio, narrated by Lisa Larsen.. I"m glad I did, while I didn't like all parts of the book, overall I enjoyed listening to the story. Tomaso has been kidnapped and Abigail finds him in a cage, in the back of a cargo plane. They escape via a parachute out the back of the plane. Abigail has to depend on Tomaso to get her back to civilization. I realize Abigail has body issues, I didn't like continuing to read about it over and over. She can't imagine Tomaso would want her in the forever kind of way and sees herself as weak. I liked how Tomaso tried to fight her beliefs but I wish she could have believed in herself sooner. Bonus, hints and suggestions of other paranormals exist. no reviews | add a review
