Disambiguation notice
The earlier NIV Study Bible is SUBSTANTIALLY DIFFERENT IN DOCTRINAL CONTENT (and the notes make up much of this Bible, it is a *study* Bible) than the later ones, please do not combine if you do not know which ones are similar. For example, right from the begining the earlier edition was different, teaching in Genesis 1 the "Gap Theory" that allows for an old universe of millions of years and so from the beginning introducing a fundamentally different way of viewing the Bible and Bible interpretation. The later editions are much more faithful to the literal-grammatical-historical hermeneutic.
