Mama's going out on a date -- and in my mind it's one of the firefighters she met at the end of Don't Wake Up Mama! -- so her five little monkeys are having a babysitter, Lulu. A night of hide-and-seek fun leads to a cute conclusion. I like the rhymes and the counting opportunities -- though the numbers escalate quickly! ( )

I loved how Christelow used repetition and rhyming throughout this book. The style she used was great and I read it out loud as if I were reading to kids. The illustrations are very colorful and do a great job explaining the story. The rhyming was a great stylistic choice for this book and I think kids would be able to catch on to the repetition and say it out loud along with me. ( )

This is a good example of picture book/fantasy because it shows monkeys having a babysitter when their mothers goes out for the night and they talk their babysitter into playing a game of hide and seek. Its a fun book that children can relate to in having babysitters and playing games with them. The illustrations are great and vibrant on every page.

This book relates to the actions of play time and getting ready for bed. Students could relate the book to real life experiences they have had with a babysitter. Shows students that there is a time and a place for play time and bed time. ( )

Mama of the five little monkeys goes out dancing and gets Lulu to babysit. The five monkeys ask Lulu to play one quick game of hide and seek before bed. Lulu counts to ten and finds the monkeys quickly. So the monkeys ask if they can play one more time. This time Lulu counts to twenty four and by the time she gets to four they are all out the door. She finds them quickly again and convinces her to play one last game. This time she counts to one hundred and four. searches everywhere and can't find the monkeys. The mama monkey walks in and discovers Lulu cant find the monkeys. Lulu says they are gone and mama says no they're not they all in their beds. Surprise, surprise they all went and hid in their beds because they knew Lulu wouldn't look there! I enjoyed this Five Little Monkey book because of the rhyming and the ending was cute. I would recommend this book for grade k-3. This is a good book to read to children before bedtime. ( )
