Lansdale seems to be attempting to give the boys some more traditional mystery trappings. The humor and relationships are still there, the. Jolene e may be a bit toned down, but the social commentary still strong. The way he keeps giving his country music singing daughter a plug is more than a bit annoying, makes Hap and leonard disappear in favor of the lansdale clan ( )

I've never read this series before and did not read any synopsis beforehand. So this was surprisingly funny and enjoyable as an audiobook. ( )

After reading three mediocre books I gave up and read a book I knew would be good. That book was Rusty Puppy, and what is there to say. It's Joe R Lansdale, and it is A Hap & Leonard book. This time out Hap and Leonard get mixed up with a group of cops who organize illegal fights and deal drugs. But does it really matter what the story is about. These books are the type where on one page they are laugh out loud funny and on the next they are detailing the very worst of what one person will do to another.
Another fantastic book, by one of the best author's out there. ( )

This sucker gets all the stars. Seriously, very little fills me with as much joy as riding along with Hap and Leonard, and this one is no exception. It's the banter. It just sucks you in.

Lansdale, you keep writing these, I'll keep reading them. No matter how often you highlight your daughter's music in them. ( )

Rusty Puppy is the latest entry in the Hap and Leonard series by Joe Lansdale.

The pair are hired by the lady across the street to help find her son's murderer. The local cops are not only unhelpful, they are suspected of being involved. As always, the pair are happy to help and find themselves involved with corrupt lawmen, scuzzy lawyers and a foul-mouthed, 400 year old midget vampire. (You'll see.)

I believe the main draw for these books is the back and forth between Hap and Leonard and this book is no exception. I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit and with everything going on in the world today, I welcomed the respite.

There's also a killer fight scene towards the end of the book that loyal readers won't want to miss.

Hap and Leonard lovers should enjoy this volume of the series just as much as the rest of them, if not just a smidge more. Highly recommended, especially to fans of the series!
