As always, the art in Lil’ Gotham is beautiful and adorable at the same time. The authors do a great job of capturing the essence of the Batfam in this series and showing how there are gaps in Damian’s knowledge due to his upbringing.

There are two short stories in this edition. One centers around Halloween and the other on Thanksgiving. Both are relatively short. The action is wrapped up quickly, but it’s charm makes up for that.

This series is good for all ages and a good place for young readers or young people interested in comics to start. It’s clean and a good introduction into the Batman side of DC Comics. ( )

Halloween Comic Fest 2013 - Batman: Li'L Gotham Special Edition #1 - Dustin Nguyen, Derek Fridolfs
Damian doesn't get Halloween. Or Thanksgiving. He does, however, get under Bruce's skin, all the while beating children dressed as villains, or insulting Batman floats, or telling Bruce exactly what he thinks of the mansion. (That the Batcave is the 'better part of the mansion.')

Bruce is patient, but you can just hear him sighing, or gnashing his teeth. I ended up chortling throughout this: it was heartwarming, hilarious, just a little wrong, and gorgeously illustrated. The illustrator would go on to work on Descender, which was quite popular.

Love, love, love. Two little vignettes, but just what I needed to clear my mind!
