A good companion to the series

Like the other two Pottermore ebooks, Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide is a collection of mostly preexisting works from the Pottermore website. However, it's handy having them collected in a themed ebooks that provides easier access to them. As works of writing, they're nice little additions to the lore of he Harry Potter series. ( )

This focused not so much characters as settings and magical plot devices.

Such as the time-turner! I was most interested in that bit.

But beyond that, I really got into the Hufflepuff Common Room and the train station. :)

Again, these shorts don't have much to do with actual *story-telling*. Just background info. Good for what it is. ( )

I loved learning a little bit more info about Hogwarts, the ghosts and some of the magical artifacts from the Series. ( )

Hogwarts has arguably been my favorite magical school. Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide, the third in the Pottermore Presents series, provides, much like its predecessors little bits and pieces of the wizarding world.

Can you enjoy the series without reading this? Sure you can. Can you enjoy Hogwarts without reading this guide? Absolutely.

But if you don't want the magic to stop and don't mind the fact that it is rather short and offers only some new information, give it a try. Since I never ventured into Pottermore, I don't know if it holds anything new for users of Pottermore. ( )

Short vignettes from Pottermore about the Hogwarts Express, castle ghosts, the sorting hat, the pensieve, Platform 9 3/4, portraits, and more. After giving details and the history of each thing, there are notes from Rowling. I loved hearing about the behind-the-scenes, like the creation of the time turners in the third book becoming a problem that she had to fix by destroying them in the fifth book. Fun for big Harry Potter fans. ( )
