I'm looking forward to the next. I really enjoyed this, in part because it reminds me why I love reading so much - this is the quintessential reading experience, in my opinion. This is still not quite as strong in plot or character as my true favorites, but definitely enjoyable and a VERY light/fast read! I like the mechanics of this book, enjoyed the time travel, and Queen Etheldredda was a complete and compelling villain. I would have liked a bit more substance to the narrative, as well as Jenna and Septimus taking charge rather than reacting. Silas Heap is officially annoying. The end of the story was a bit rushed and incomplete, and even the epilogue, which are usually uniquely complete, still left a few ends untied. Fun further adventures of Septimus Heap. Silas Heap the father of the Heap family accidentally releases the spirit of the evil Queen Etheldredda. Septimus is sent back in time. His adopted sister Jenna, his brother Nicko and a young trader named Snorri Snorrelssn along with her cat follow to bring him back. Can they return to their own time and stop Etheldredda's plans to take over? The book make me rethink the origin of the word physician as one who creates a physic, but I could find no proof of this. It does make a lot of sense. . . . On to the book. Missing Septimus. Missing Jenna. Evil Queen. Time Travel. Who would end up when? It was good. The book ended like the first, in which Angie Sage wrote where characters ended up. There was a hint that Simon would be back. I will have to read on. no reviews | add a review
