The lack of clarity concerning the intended audience for this short guidebook on the history and architecture of this remarkable building is disappointing. Purchasers of this sort of book don't need pp. 111-14 to suggest what to do in the museum: "flirten und liebend" or "Entspannung" or advice to turn on their Smartphones for "KHM Stories." The latter suggestion is on every restroom stall door. They need accurate information and identifications in portable form, not an app on paper. Diagrams of facade decorations are the most helpful material offered by this "lite" version of the Kriller/Kugler book published in 1991, but the 2016 publication needed a copy editor; there are too many awkward sentences and typos. Floor plans from 1906 on p. 40, for example, are interesting when magnified for the museum history specialist, but utterly illegible and therefore meaningless and, in any case, unexplained for the reader.
