This story is about a caterpillar who sees all of his friends fly around with their wings. He gets sad and dreams of having wings someday. Then he goes to sleep and wakes up as a butterfly with wings.
This is a good fantasy because it's about animals talking and interacting like humans do. The story holds together.

I would use this book for a science lesson (butterfly cycle). Students love this book because it has great pictures and it's munched on every page! ( )

A good read aloud for young children. Caterpillar wishes he could fly like Bumblebee, Sparrow and Butterfly, but he does not have wings. Bumblebee and Sparrow let him know he can’t because he’s not built to fly. Butterfly is more hopeful and tells him maybe one day he will. The illustrations in the book are beautiful and are filled with large brightly colored images. This book would be a great introduction to learning about a caterpillar’s life cycle. ( )

This book would be good for learning about a bug life cycle, I think it would be fun to have a caterpillar in the class to watch it grow into a butterfly and then set it free. ( )

Caterpillar was always hungry. For weeks he crunched and munched his way through the fresh, juicy leaves of a blackberry bush.
