Zoe James has always loved Gideon more than anything in the world. She knows he only wants to keep her safe, but his overprotectiveness has taken over her life and it's got to stop. She's sick of him treating her like a little girl, but is she woman enough to handle the truth when it finally comes out? As old enemies close in, a complicated but undeniable passion is growing between them. Gideon tries to hold on to Zoe and keep her safe, but he may have to let her go in order to save them both...

Oopsie daisy! I did not see that one coming i.e. Gideon's past. And oh yay! for Zoe for finally get Gideon to open his eyes and realize the woman she'd become. What I didn't like was the flack the others gave him. She's his "FOSTER" sister. No blood connection at all. And hey if Zoe chose him that's all the permission they needed.

As usually the story is raw and Gideon show his not so nice side. But broken people getting a do-over and finding true love is Ms. Ashenden's specialty. All in all a great ending to this gritty but romantic series.

I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from NetGalley for voluntary review consideration. ( )

I hate having to write this but I did not like Gideon in this book. I guess he sort of redeemed himself at the end, barely. He was way to overpowering. I understand he was alpha and trying to protect Zoe and his other friends, but it sounded like Zoe couldn't do anything by herself. When she tried to speak up about anything, she was accused of acting like a spoiled teenager. She was basically a prisoner of a one block radius is what it sounded like. And not a single friend stood up for her either and told Gideon he was too overbearing. Zoe just took it, too. I wanted to scream at her in the beginning, but she finally grew a backbone. I loved the other two books in the series- loved them. This one? Not so much. My mind kept yelling, "This is signs of domestic abuse". I'll still be reading this author's books and looking forward to it.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. ( )

This was an ok. read for me, I've read the first two novels in this series and enjoyed them very much, but this one just didn't hold my attention much as I was reading it, and I finished it, well, just because I started it really. I was looking forward to Gideon and Zoe's story but they weren't given a very interesting plot line, just the same old will they, or won't they "No we can't" and "Yes we can". There was some interesting struggles between Gideon and Zoe as their relationship changed and he started to see her more as a woman instead of a child, add a father who is a shady politician and Zoe's head is spinning. I would have liked to have seen more interacting between Zoe and her father in the plot. But I have to say the epilogue was very nice and brought a smile to my face. ( )
