Biography & Autobiography. Politics. Women's Studies. Nonfiction. HTML:Writing with warmth and humor, Connie Schultz reveals the rigors, joys, and absolute madness of a new marriage at midlife and campaigning with her husband, Sherrod Brown, now the junior senator from Ohio. She describes the chain of events leading up to Sherrod??s decision to run for the Senate (he would not enter the fray without his wife??s unequivocal support), and her own decision to step down from writing her Pulitzer Prize-winning column during the course of one of the nation??s most intensely watched races. She writes about the moment her friends in the press became not so friendly, the constant campaign demands on her marriage and family life, and a personal tragedy that came out of the blue. Schultz also shares insight into the challenges of political life: dealing with audacious bloggers, ruthless adversaries, and political divas; battling expectations of a political wife; and the shock of having staffers young enough to be her children suddenly directing her every move. Connie Schultz is passionate and outspoken about her opinions??in other words, every political consultant??s nightmare, and every reader??s dream.

I expected a book about how the campagin is run from the insider point of view. What I did not expect was a well rounded book about the effect campagins have on spouses from the start to the end. The one comment that kept haunting me as I read this book was when one spouse said to Connie when she was writing this book is not to hold back. Connie did not hold back. She gave all of her self to the campaign and this book. Even after I put the book down, I could not stop picking it up to read certain passages over and over again. What Game Change is for politicans, His Lovely Wife should be required reading for soon to be political spouses. ( )

Great look inside a political campaign. The amount of time spent on fund raising is unbelievable. ...and Schultz has a great sense of humor. ( )

Schultz provides an interesting inside view of a campaign and a great perspective on feminist wives in politics. ( )

Great book by Schultz who is a Pulitzer-prize winning reporter and married to Sherrod Brown, Ohio politician. The main part of the book covers her life during Brown's successful run for the Senate. Has a lot to say about being a successful woman suddenly thrust into a role where she's important because of her husband. ( )
