Fascinating, absorbing first person memoir by a Private in the British Army, during the first decade of the 20th Century. Serving with the Royal Welch Fusiliers, Frank Richards describes in great detail his life: the heat and medical problems, relations with the local inhabitants including all the many services and items that could be bought very cheaply, his work as a signaller and the travel involves - including many interesting anecdotes. This is so different from the usial military accounts, written by officers. ( )
