Callie is a chef who has her own restaurant, much to the unhappiness of her domineering, Greek father. Callie's father wanted her to take-over his restaurant but she wanted to do things different and new her father would never allow that. Right now life is good - Callie's restaurant is doing well, her father has resigned himself to the fact that she's not taking over his restaurant and she has a handsome boyfriend who shares her interest in cooking. But life often doesn't give us good times for very long and Callie not only finds her boyfriend dead but that he wasn't everything she believed he was. Worse the police suspect her of being the killer! Callie knows she's going to have to do something to clear her name so that she stays out of jail, if she doesn't her daughter will end up living with Callie's ex and the ex's new wife - who just happens to make her daughter physically sick.

I loved this first book in a new series. The character was smart and resourceful, the father while being domineering really cared for his daughter, a grandmother who is a hoot, and a police detective who isn't too bad to look at. I also liked who she tied all the stories from the possible suspects together into a cohesive and entertaining story. Looking forward to more by this author. ( )
