This is a great poem because of the lyrical poems and bold illustrations that capture the energy of a group of children in one neighborhood as they amuse and entertain themselves over the course of a summer day. This poem is also great because of the diversity of the children throughout each page. It encourages children to play with one another and be friendly to each other no matter what their skin color is or if they look different. It also provides numerous activities for children to do in the outdoors which is so important nowadays when technology has taken over and seems to be the prime entertainment of our generation.
