Good book, interesting story about a bull rider whose fiance was unfaithful and a widow of another bull rider who meet when her son gets confused thinking this Chase is his dad. Even though the reader knows where the story is going, it is still a good read. Sometimes I love to read a good romance. More often than not if that romance has some big drama in it than I am as happy as a clam. This is one of those times. The confusion I felt at the beginning of this novel amuses me now because I didn’t read the summary too closely and spent a minute or two going, “Wait but that guy is dead.” I promptly read the summary and felt like a bit of a jerk. I digress. Riley is one of the cutest literary kids I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a little while, and his heartbreak broke my own heart. Feels like no matter what age you are you’re never ready to lose a parent. And his confusion at doing so just is heart aching. Maddy is a strong character who I do appreciate, trying to keep it together as best she can and Chase, well he’s the kind of man I love to read about. Not too stern, not too surly and just the right amount of flirtation. This book is a good quick read. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This story really tugged at the heart strings. A little boy, Riley, has persuaded his mother to take him to see the bull riders. He becomes convinced that one of the bull riders is his recently deceased father. To help him adjust to this loss, his mother decides to allow him to come to the revelation that Chase is not his father. To make this happen, Chase is forced to spend a lot of time with both Riley and Maddy. Over time, feelings develop, misunderstandings happen and outside forces must mediate.I was provided a copy of this book from LibraryThing in exchange for my honest review. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Chase is a sweet novel about a little boy who thinks his daddy has returned, and about the people surrounding him and trying to help him.I do not expect a romance to be feminist, but this story is a bit too traditional: a mother who goes out working and a brother who tries to prevent that, asserting her child needs her. A man, not yet a boyfriend, who interferes far too often in my opinion. But, notwithstanding that, I liked reading the book. no reviews | add a review

Chase Garrett joined the American Extreme Bull Riders Association to get away from the betrayal of his fiancee and best friend. At one of the events, he saved a little boy from being trampled. The youngster tried to get to Chase after hearing his name called, believing he was the boy's deceased father. At three-years-old, it made perfect sense to him that his dad would be in the bull riding competition. But when Riley's mother, Maddy, tries to take him away and explain everything to Chase, she is surprised at her attraction to him.
This book is a good illustration of what adults will do for children. Parents will do anything for their kids so seeing Maddy attempt to protect her son and explain that Chase was not his dad, was what we expect from a parent. But for Chase to also help Riley though the misconception showed what a great guy he was.
I really liked the characters in this unique story. Chase was an all-around good guy. He went out of his way to help a little boy while he was still hurting himself. I liked the way Maddy stayed strong for her son. He was the most important thing in her life. I couldn't help but like Riley. What a sweety. How sad that he didn't understand that his dad was not coming back. How can an adult explain death to a child? The secondary characters made the story even more interesting. Especially Maddy's brothers.
I'm glad I got a copy of this book from NetGalley. It was a well-written, unique story with a good ending.
If you like single parent romances, you should read Chase (American Extreme Bull Riders Tour, #2). ( )
