The book starts funny enough, but descends into stereotypes within pages. The main character doesn't want to settle down yet, but instead of talking with his girlfriend of 10 years about this, he flees to argentina to start a new life. all the while lying to his still girlfriend, who he plans to get rid of via a letter. classy dude. when he realises he wants to get married after all he quickly needs to return to his own life, before she gets the letter. the so-called happy end of the book is his successful deceit. he never even once considers talking to the person he wants to marry after all about his doubts and fears.
the book was very disappointing in that respect - the main character doesn't develop at all, he just gets to sow his seeds one final time (in a strangely out of nowhere explicit sex scene), before deciding to settle down after all. his girlfriend doesn't get any character treatment. she's just a stereotype of a woman who wants a husband and babies and a house outside of town. to top it all off she's also a little dumb for failing to notice all the lies she's presented with all the time.
