When you read this book, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement. You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves. You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her. You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships. Assume nothing.… (more)

All I knew about this book going in was that there was lots of twists and turns. And wow is that an understatement. An absolutely fantastic book that I literally did not want to put down. ( )

This book is like a roller coaster ride: you can’t get off - or stop reading it - even if you want to. Vanessa is married to Richard, or maybe Nellie is married to Richard. No, wait, Emma is going to marry Richard. Or maybe Richard is still looking for the perfect wife. And maybe he’s found her. Or not. And Vanessa should warn Nellie. Or Emma. But would they believe her? And what would happen if Richard found out? Someone is definitely disturbed in this story, or maybe maybe they all are! And if you think that this review is unreliable, that’s nothing compared to the narrators in this story. Don’t worry if you find yourself rereading parts, finishing a section and then wondering what it meant, and finishing the whole novel and then asking yourself, but what about . . . ? You are not alone. ( )

The Wife Between Us flashes back and forth in time and between characters which takes the reader a while to figure out. Nellie, aka Vanessa, was married to seemingly handsome, smart and successful Richard. As it turns out, Richard is abusive and manipulative. After 10 years of marriage and no children, Richard and Nellie divorce. Now he is engaged to his pretty young assistant. Nellie desperately tries to warn her that the man she is about to marry is dangerous. There are back stories and surprises along the way and the story does not all come together until the end which keeps the reader guessing. ( )

This was....fine?
The first half was almost unbearably slow but the twist halfway through was good.

The characters were OK, i didn't really connect with any of them and don't think they are at all memorable. The plot was OK too but again, nothing memorable. It was all just OK, nothing special by any means!

Overall much blander than i was expecting considering the hype around this book... ( )
