This book is about life from the perspective of the Native-Americans. This book includes collection of poems, brief one page stories, and pictures from the mid 1800’s – 1970’s. It includes how they felt about the land, about the buffalo, and about how they about the white man.
I thought this book was a story, but it included poetry and one page stories. It was very eye-opening on how the Native-American felt about the land. I would recommend it individuals of other cultures.
In the classroom, I would ask the students to pick a poetry or short story in this book and analyze it. In your own words, see how the Native-American felt. Include the page # from the book.
In another class activity, I would ask the students to pick a picture and create a brief summary. Based on the information below the picture and from your own knowledge of history draw a summary. For extra credit, Google information from the internet about the individual or site and include it on your summary. Give credit to your source. ( )
