I have to start this by saying I love Cornelia Funke and her work. DragonRider is one of my family's favorite read together books. It seemed to me that this was a really badly edited or translated version. There were a lot of mistakes that even my 7 year old noticed. It was not the Kindle edition, but the Scholastic hardback version. Plot mistakes, word mistakes...
Was really hard to get through. ( )

This is the sequel to Dragon Rider, which I needed to look up when I read it -- 14 years ago!! How is that possible?
I needed to recap the first book to remember characters and the general plot. The Griffin's Feather picks up about 2 years where Dragon Rider ended. 14 year old Ben is living in Norway with his adopted family, who save Fabulous creatures. They discover a Pegasus and three eggs, but there is a problem. In order to save the Pegasus eggs, they must find a Griffin's feather. Griffin's and dragons go back as enemies, so there is some suspense. The book is written for younger readers -- upper elementary age. It is not as dark as Funke's other material and the main characters meet friends who help them on their journey.
Good book! ( )

Book description
It's now been two years since Ben and Firedrake defeated Nettlebrand and rescued the silver dragons. Both boy and dragon have finally found homes, but they must live hundreds of miles apart and can only see each other every once in a while.

During one such visit, news reaches Ben, the Greenblooms, and their friends that the last Pegasus in the world has been discovered. The legendary horse has three unhatched eggs with him, but the only way they'll ever hatch -- and continue the survival of this incredible magical species -- is to place them under a griffin's feather. But griffins are the most dangerous creatures in the world, and their mortal enemies are dragons...
