Ever since Reyes Farrow escaped from a hell dimension in which Charley Davidson accidentally trapped him, the son of Satan has been brimstone-bent on destroying the world his heavenly Brother created. His volatile tendencies have put Charley in a bit of a pickle. But that's not the only briny vegetable on her plate. While trying to domesticate the feral being that used to be her husband, she also has to deal with her everyday life of annoying all manner of beings--some corporeal, some not so much--as she struggles to right the wrongs of society. Only this time she's not uncovering a murder. This time she's covering one up. Add to that her new occupation of keeping a startup PI venture--the indomitable mystery-solving team of Amber Kowalski and Quentin Rutherford--out of trouble and dealing with the Vatican's inquiries into her beloved daughter, and Charley is on the brink of throwing in the towel and becoming a professional shopper. Or possibly a live mannequin. But when someone starts attacking humans who are sensitive to the supernatural world, Charley knows it's time to let loose her razor sharp claws. Then again, her number one suspect is the dark entity she's loved for centuries. So the question becomes: Can she tame the unruly beast before it destroys everything she's worked so hard to protect?… (more)

The cliffhanger didn’t bother me at all, o have complete faith. :D ( )

I cannot get enough of these books! There's so much craziness happening all the time; hellhounds, demons, angels, Gods. And the humor and wit is great, sometimes I actually laugh out loud. As these books go and we learn more about Charley and Reyes, the more insane it all is, but its presented in a way that makes it easier to understand and keep track of. The author does a great job of giving you information a bit at a time and keeping the books moving at a good pace. Charley is hilarious and the thing I love most about her is that she surrounds herself with great people who are constantly helping her so shes not the only hero. The side characters are well developed and interesting. I can't wait for the finale so I can see how it all plays out! ( )

Good but...

I really like this series but I think I liked this one the least. There was so much jumping around and this ending has a familiar ring to it with someone going missing at the end. We’ve seen it before several times. I will continue reading this series but I wish for once they could all remain on the same plane and solve a mystery together rather than having to fight their way back from some calamity each time. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley, and I read it in record time. I've been waiting for this 12th book to be published for what seems like forever, since I read the entire series in a matter of a couple of weeks earlier this year. This was my favorite so far! I appreciate the way the author recaps details that are important for the series in a way that is not always just stopping the story to explain. I quickly picked back up on all of the things I'd forgotten. This book was as fast paced as the last few in the series, and I enjoy all of the many story lines wrapping up in the last chapter or two of the books. I love Charley's snarky wit, and willingness to help everyone, if to a fault. Of course the ending holds you captive, so now I'm anxiously awaiting the next in the series! I could/would read this series forever!

These books are always such a wild, fun, sarcastic, crazy ride, and I loved revisiting the entire gang on this installment. Charley always makes me laugh, the mysteries are always twisted, the behavior outrageous, and those cliffhangers always leave me wanting more! Great fun series on audiobook, and one that I’ll miss once it’s finished. ( )
