Hugh McHugh, a pseudonym for George V. Hobart 1867-1926, was a popular comic author of the period, especially noted for being a prolific writer, lyricist, director, producer, arranger for the musical and dramatic theater on Broadway, 1900-1926. Illustrator Gordon Grant was a noted magazine illustrator and cover artist at the turn of the century for Pearson Magazine and The Saturday Evening Post, among others. He was also known as a marine painter. Trained in London, he covered the Boer War and the Mexican revolution for Harper Weekly. His portrait of the USS Constitution helped save the vessel as an historical monument and the portrait hangs in the White House. no reviews | add a review
