This book is a shorter version of the chapter book, Charlotte's Web. It is given an easier story line where Wilbur, a baby pig becomes friends with an ugly spider named Charlotte. The plot is based off of the actual story, where Wilbur is a small pig who is shipped to another farm for being too small. He has difficulty making friends and is very lonely. At the end of the night he says "goodnight" and, to his surprise, he gets a response back! The next day Wilbur looks for the voice only to find a spider creeping down from it's web. None of the animals in the barn liked the spider because they thought she was ugly, but Wilbur didn't mind. He was only looking for a friend.
This book shows how you shouldn't judge someone based on their looks, but should look beyond what they look like and see how they are as a person.Looks aren't the only thing that matter. ( )
