We all loved the first one, and this did not disappoint at all. If you want to start this series, please do with the first one. Tricia Springstubb knows her characters well! ( )This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The characters in this story are so lovable! We all have to learn to be friends, and sometimes this takes the heart of a champion. I received this copy in an Early Reviewers Giveaway in LibraryThing. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I enjoyed reading this book. Cody has many changes going on in her life all at once which is something many of my students can relate to. The plot of the book is easy to follow and the illustrations help them to understand what is going on. Now my students want to read more of these books in the series. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Gifted this to a young reader who really enjoyed it! She said she liked the adventure and learning about the friendships. The pictures were a bonus and she wants to read more about them. Too many things are changing in 4th grader Cody’s life. She is not sure if Perl is still her friend so she agrees to join the soccer team just to be with her, even though she doesn’t know how to play soccer. If that isn’t bad enough, she finds out that her very best friend and neighbor has been keeping a secret from her. This title will appeal to readers in grades 2nd through 4th who are already fans of the Cody series, as well as, fans of realistic stories about sports and friendship. The author develops characters that are easily relatable and a plot line that will keep the reader engaged.
