The art is beautiful, and I love the selective use of color and monotone. There were some beautiful moments in the story, too, but it was missing something – I often noticed myself watching characters have emotions instead of feeling them myself. ( )

Someone told me this was their all-time favorite graphic novel, which made me want to read it. I thought it was gorgeous and creative. I sometimes had a hard time telling which character was which. There were also a few times I had no idea what was going on and had to re-read. Nevertheless, I'm glad I read it. Very beautiful and (as the kids say) it's a vibe. Emotional and atmospheric. ( )

The art is stunning.
But the story is so confusing - nothing is explained. Not the setting, battles, why there are no men at all - the whole thing with the staircase people - I was left very confused. ( )

This was so beautiful and lovely. The graphics were brilliant. It shows us how pure love can be. I love the world that was built and even though it took me a few minutes to understand everything clearly, I was sucked right into it. I love graphic novels which tell meaningful stories. I'm so glad I read this. I needed hope in my life. ( )

This book was so unlike anything I've ever read. Graphic novel, SciFi, LGBTQ love story, YA (maybe?). Whatever else it was, it was really good. The art was fantastic, the story was timeless, the world the characters lived in was wholly original. Tillie Walden is an author I'm going to be paying attention to. ( )

In this graphic novel/space adventure, a young woman discovers her place in a vast universe. After graduating from an all-girls boarding school, Mia, a light-skinned, black-haired girl, joins a reconstruction crew traveling through space to restore crumbling buildings with ancient and forgotten histories. She carries with her memories of Grace, the girl she fell in love with and lost during her freshman year of school. As Mia develops close bonds with her teammates, she learns they each have mysterious and complicated pasts of their own. Despite their differences, the strength of their love holds them together on a dangerous journey to the farthest reaches of space. ...
