How can one review a classic? Definitely worth reading both for entertainment and for insight into the culture of the Caliphate. If you read some of these stories as a child, you read the Bowdlerized version. This one is the real thing. ( )

"Rendered into English from the literal & complete French translation". Flowery translation of the famous stories, exotic and erotic. Fascinating how different the "original" version of say, Aladdin, is from the versions we think we know. The volumes I have originally belonged to a clergyman.

This is the complete set of the Mardrus/Mathers translation, "The Book of The Thousand Nights and One Night", usually sold in four volumes in English. Please DO NOT combine this with abridgements or single volumes. If you see abridgements or single volumes combined with complete sets/editions, please help by separating them. If in doubt, please DO NOT combine. Especially not when there are large numbers of copies. It takes a lot of time and effort to separate and recombine works.
