This books picks up right where the first book in the series leaves off. I found the second book to be more easily digestible than the first, as one is already familiar with most of the characters. After Norris' escape from Bera Nima in the first book, he finds out in the second book that his job isn't done. The aliens that facilitated his escape (and had previously erased his memory) have a job for him to do, one with important ramifications for not only their welfare, but the continuation of life on planet earth. But will the people of earth accept his word, or will they view his newfound friends as a potential threat? Everything hinges on his ability to convince them of the truth: that a distant alien race is coming to destroy them.If there was any drawback to this book, it would be that it was a little on the slow side. And I wished the author would dispense with all the "could've" and "would've" constructions. They were just distracting. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This is the 2nd book of The Specimen Series. The first book introduced to you the characters and their histories this book takes you on an adventure like no other. It's a wonderful addition to the series and I can't wait for the next book. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This was an interesting novel. The prose was easy to read, and the plot moved at a reasonable pace. This allowed me to become engrossed at times. I did, however, find it a bit too long in some parts. Overall I would recommend, would be great for a long train journey no reviews | add a review

This time, the story is more centered on the two main characters, which is unfortunate as I would like to have learned more about the secondary characters. However, there isn't much in the way of new character development even for the main characters.
In the end, it didn't seem like a lot was accomplished during the book, but I am curious what the future holds for the various races and the great evil enemy that they will be facing. ( )
