Being telepathic, Miss Sookie has no luck dating the living. It's just too awkward for her to become intimate with a man--let alone sleep with him--when she can hear everything he's thinking about her. But then the alluring vampire Bill stops into her bar, and his mind reads silent as a tomb. Finally, the match she's longed for! There are some corrupt criminals, however, who wish to destroy Sookie's undead beau--and soon realize they picked the wrong vampire to aggravate.… (more)

Uggg... tried this for a second time and just couldn't do it. Looks like I won't be continuing the Sookie series.

Húmorísk léttlesning um hugsanalesandi gengilbeinuna Sookie. Það hriktir dálítið í yfirnáttúrlulegu heimsmyndinni en notaleg lesning engu að síður. ( )

I give up. I was so bored by this book that I ended up skimming most of it and it still took me weeks to get through. I'm so tired of hearing Sookie mention her "word of the day" calendar, the fact that she hasn't been asked to marry any vampires, and the detailed and loving descriptions of Wal-Mart fashions that were already ten years out of style upon publication.

I think the worst was when Sookie went out to coffee with someone at an Applebee's. It just seemed like something a writer would do when she doesn't know the town she's writing about well and instead of doing research to really put you in the town, she just throws up her hands and thinks, "well, everywhere has an Applebee's right?" Either that or she was trying to impress upon me how freaking boring Sookie is. No matter what, it's time for me to break up with the Southern Vampire series. ( )

Epigraph
Dedication
"Though they'll probably never read it, this book is dedicated to all the coaches—baseball, football, volleyball, soccer—who've worked through so many years, often for no monetary reward, to coax athletic performances out of my children and to instill in them an understanding of The Game. God bless you all, and thanks from one of the moms who crowds the stands through rain, cold, heat, and mosquitoes. However, this mom always wonders who else might be watching the night games."
