"Leading Women; Serena Williams" is a biography on Serena Williams. Serena was born in a rough neighborhood on September 26th, 1981. She had four other siblings, one of which named Venus also went pro in tennis. Before his children were born Serena's father watched a match on television and saw a man win more money than he made in a year in just one match. He decided that one day he would teach his children tennis. From a young age he taught all his children Tennis and good ethics. Immediately it was clear that Venus and Serena were the most talented of his children so he focused on teaching them. Serena and Venus both started playing in tournaments around 14 and were doing very well in tournaments. Eventually they went pro although they faced discrimination because of their race Serena and Venus both did extremely well in professional tournaments and had many titles. Serena is now 36 years old and still loves tennis. She also wants to pursue fashion and acting.

In review, I learned a lot about not only Serena but also Venus. Although Serena is a strong athlete the book showed that she is also a strong person through everything she has endured. I found this book very interesting and I learned a lot from it as well. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes tennis or is looking for an interesting biography to read. ( )
