I’m not even going to lie this was a shameless cover buy and it helped that there was Fae. This was an interesting storyline. It was pretty slow to build and some parts dragged a bit, but once I got past the 61% mark it was great and I was honestly engrossed. I am very happy this is going to get a sequel because I need to know what happens in AKON.

I will say Serena is very frustrating of a character and I hope in AKON she’ll get past the weak human panic because she’ll be changing. I liked that this book was long and it gave me time to get to know the characters and develop an attachment to them. Even the ones I wanted to toss off a cliff. (I’m looking at you Wilder, Dmitri, Goldwyn and Hunter!!! Tysion was a cunt too but he can be ignored.)

ALSO: I hate to say that I made a mistake in reading along with the audiobook. I have recently come to enjoy listening to an audiobook as I read along or while riding in the car. Something about the tempo of the narrator’s voice just threw me off no matter what speed I put it on. It was either too fast or too drawn out but still sounded like she was talking too fast (if that makes sense).

All around I enjoyed the concept. There’s a lot of character and plot development throughout. The overall idea of this book completely outweighed my minor frustrations with Serena and how free she was to just dish out information that could get her killed and gave these deep life altering conversations every ten minutes. I’m excited to see where this story goes! ( )
