I try to like this book but I just don't enjoy it as much as the rest of the series. ( )

This... had everything, and I loved it to bits. Very, very well executed *and* the writing was fun. Also elements of Romeo and Juliet all over the place, but *shrugs* can't have everything, and it didn't lean too heavily on that. Or in the ways it might have. ( )

I wish this book had a much clearer intro and one of the main characters had an easier to pronounce name, otherwise this book is okay. I also wish there wasn’t an unnecessary evil scene that involves violence against kids and adults. ( )

My favorite of the first four Chrestomanci books. Charming, funny, heartwarming. ( )

Book description
This adventure takes place in the Italian Dukedom of Caprona, where spells are as slippery and as tricksy as spaghetti! Casa Montana and Casa Petrocchi look after the magical business in the Dukedom of Caprona, watched over by its magnificent guardian statue, the Angel. The families have been feuding for years, so when all the spells start going wrong, each naturally blames the other. Then young Tonino Montana and Angelica Petrocchi also disappear. Could the terrible rumours of a White Devil who threatens the Angel of Caprona be true after all?
