Excellent book with wonderful characters. The stories of the characters lives moved this book along and although I found the descriptions of the battle scenes and strategies long and unnecessary, I never found this very large book a chore to read. Entertaining and educational it covers a time and place in history that few people have written about with such humanity. ( )

Loved this book. I listened to it on tape - it is very long. I learned so much about the Korean war. This book has it all - deep friendships, love, secrets, war, injustice, bravery - very good read. You won't be disappointed.
