I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any historical romance fans who don’t mind some minor sex (nothing X rated or graphic). But I thought that Warrick, the hero, and Adara, the heroine, were very well developed. I had very clear pictures in my mind of what they looked like while I read. And their histories were alluded to, possibly more than necessary, to explain their actions, motivations, goals.
The did not see the ending coming. Perhaps I’m blind - but nope, didn’t. Went in a completely different direction.
If any complaints, Adara’s obstinate refusal to see Warrick’s constantly more caring, gentle, protective behavior and attempt to meet it even halfway, really began to annoy the crap outta me. I realize her past sucked but ‘actions speak louder than words’ and you’ve got to put on your big girl panties and jump. ( )

SENSUALITY RATING:
YES Profanity; a “damn” here or there but nothing excessive;
YES, minor descriptive Sexual Encounters within the bonds of marriage i.e. “her slick, tight sheath”.

GENRE: Historical Scottish Romance

SETTING: Home of Clan MacVarish.

CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: ADARA – Petite; Recluse; Frightened little mouse but with a smile that softens the heart.

CENTRAL MALE CHARACTER: WARRICK the Demon Lord – Roars deep; Keeps his troops inline; Lays down the law and follows through with the punishment if laws are broken; the most feared of all Warriors.

SYNOPSIS: Adara continues to shy away from anyone except Epsy of the Clan MacCara. She is discovered by the Demon Lord and returned to her home. Warrick, the Demon Lord will take possession of Clan MacVarish and all of Adara’s people. But, WHO IS TRYING TO KILL WARRICK and why?

WHAT I LIKED: Callie is hilarious and the perfect person to get under the Demon’s skin.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Though I understand why Adara being hard-headed was necessary to the plot, I still find it annoyingly annoying.

RATING: (4) stars BECAUSE confusing with regards to what happened 1st, 2nd, 3rd, i.e.., Time period in dungeon; On the run; Time spent with an Uncle; Became a servant; Marriage. What am I missing? Otherwise, the plot pulled me into the contrast between an insecure woman and the roar of the Demon. A twist on Beauty and the Beast, “Highlander” style, with no hint of a fairytale. ( )

Highlander The Demon Lord (Highland Warriors Trilogy Book 3) by Donna Fletcher, but can be read as a stand alone. Warrick, aka the Demon Lord, cares for nothing and no one and is ruthless, or so most believe. He carries out the King’s unsavory and sometimes brutal tasks. Adara, has served others, been tortured, traded, given away, or sold and mistreated from an early age. She has known very little kindness in her life, she's been scared her entire life. She's learned to be submissive and obedient, that is until Warrick comes into her life.
Fast paced, well written and well crafted with well developed, intriguing and engaging characters. I have loved Warrick and Adara from the very beginning. Although, Warrick is ruthless, at times, he has a kind and gentle heart, especially with Adara. Adara brings out the best of him and he's helps Adara overcome her fears.
Filled with danger, intrigue, suspense, mystery, romance, twists and turns, and surprises. The reader will find themselves carried away and glued to the pages by Warrick and Adara's love and Adara's will to survive. She is a fascinating and captivating heroine. This is the conclusion of what's been a captivating and intriguing trilogy, "Highland Warriors".
Another must read by Donna Fletcher. ( )

First words
Adara was not in a hurry. She took her time, her steps not slow but not rushed. The chilled air felt good especially after this morning when she had woken feeling poorly. It nipped at her cheeks, setting them aglow against her pale skin. A slight breeze stirred her blonde hair that had grown to her shoulders, her long tresses having been chopped off to just below her ears not that long ago when she had been held prisoner at....
Quotations
He has been made aware of everything and heads are already rolling for it,”
“Do you fear war with me that you bring so many warriors to my home, my friend?”
I will not stand by and see Adara suffer any more than she already has,
Then take joy in it for now, for it is yours no longer
I never had a friend
