No current Talk conversations about this book. 12/13/21 This book examines the existentialist philosophies of Jean-Paul Sartre, Karl Jaspers, Gabriel Marcel and Martin Heidegger, with an introductory section summarizing Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Husserl. It provides a clear and well written but also critical analysis of each philosopher and at the end contrasts their approaches with regard to the venture of philosophizing, descriptive metaphysics, man in the world, man and fellow man and man and God. The author also brings a Thomist-theist perspective to bear which provides interesting context from the broader philosophical tradition. Highly recommended as a serious but also understandable introduction to existentialism. no reviews | add a review
