1960 hardbacked book published by viking press, with fabulous pieces i have never found anywhere else. this commemorates the early decades of the magazine that long predates the re-birth of VANITY FAIR as the glossy, sometimes classy, but often kinda sordid publication it is now. one selection included in this collection is the short play "big casino is little casino", penned by george s. kaufman, for the algonquin-ites one-night revue called NO-SIREE (portrayed in pieces in the movie MRS. PARKER AND THE VICIOUS CIRCLE). this revue is also historically important for including the first public performance of robert benchley's 'the treasurer's report' [text of which is not included in this tome but can be found in nathaniel benchley's biography of his father] ... this book is priceless.
