This is another Mr. Panda story, this one is to say goodnight, and to remind all his animal friends to do nightly chores, like brushing teeth and taking a bath, but will any of his friends listen? This is a book young readers will enjoy before bedtime. It has simple text and cute illustrations. ( )

The irascible Mr. Panda returns in this fourth picture-book devoted to his adventures from British author/illustrator Steve Antony. In this latest installment of the series, our ailuropodine hero's friends each bid him good night, only to be reminded of some bedtime task they've forgotten. In each case, the animal(s) in question clarify why that task isn't for them. Eager Lemur, in the meantime, keeps insisting that he HAS done each task, eventually reminding Mr. Panda himself of something he has forgotten...

Like its predecessors, Good Night, Mr. Panda pairs an engaging, humorous story with bright, appealing artwork. Here the emphasis is less on good manners, which is the overriding theme of the first three titles - Please, Mr. Panda, I'll Wait, Mr. Panda, and Thank You, Mr. Panda - and more on the activities of bedtime. The humorous responses of the various animals - skunk only bathes once a month, sloth is too tired to go to bed - will keep young reader/listeners entertained, while the conclusion, in which it is Mr. Panda who forgets something, and then makes a mistake, will end the tale on an amusing note. Recommended to fans of Mr. Panda, and to anyone looking for engaging bedtime books for the picture-book set. ( )

Deadpan Mr. Panda points out the pre-bedtime tasks his friends (acquaintances?) have overlooked: hippo didn't brush teeth, skunk didn't bathe, the sloth is too tired to move, etc. The lemur, however, is excited to show off his minty-fresh breath and red striped pajamas - and makes sure Mr. Panda remembers to say good night to him!
