But World War II puts his plans on hold and he joins the 202nd Military Police Company attached to II Corps. For nearly three years he serves in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy with the brave men of the Speedy Two. The daily grind of maintaining order in the midst of wartime chaos puts Bill in the mix with some notable leaders, celebrities, and historic sites. Confrontations with death are challenges he survives, but what knocks him down is his homecoming.
