Ullman did not climb; indeed he did not even accompany the team to it's base camp, therefore this book lacks the punch of a first hand account. Nevertheless it is well written, as with all his work. The story has everything a good mountaineering book should have: tragedy, excitement, drama. I read the last gripping 60 pages in one sitting, although I did not read all the inevitable Appendices. Great Photographs as one would expect from a National Geographic sponsored expedition. ( )
