"Natalie Naudus turns in a blockbuster performance of this riveting saga...Her performance demonstrates how a strong, consistent narrative voice can amplify the intricacies within a text. Fans of Marie Lu will not be disappointed." â?? AudioFile Magazine
This program includes a bonus conversation between the author and narrator.
A broken world.
An overwhelming evil.
A team of warriors ready to strike back.

#1 New York Times-bestselling author Marie Lu is back with an adrenaline-laced novel about the lengths one warrior will go to fight for freedom and those she loves.
Talin is a Striker, a member of an elite fighting force that stands as the last defense for the only free nation in the world: Mara.
A refugee, Talin knows firsthand the horrors of the Federation, a world-dominating war machine responsible for destroying nation after nation with its terrifying army of mutant beasts known only as Ghosts.
But when a mysterious prisoner is brought from the front to Mara's capital, Talin senses there's more to him than meets the eye. Is he a spy from the Federation? What secrets is he hiding?
Only one thing is clear: Talin is ready to fight to the death alongside her fellow Strikers for the only homeland she has left . . . with or without the boy who might just be the weapon to saveâ??or destroyâ??them all.
Loyalty is life.

Marie Lu really needs to learn how to describe the scene, not the grass. She regularly interrupts conversations to go into mindnumbingly detailing that can last for pages. I am not exaggerating when I estimate that her books can be 2/3 shorter just by saying "it's a field of lush grash on a good day" instead of describing every minute detail of everything in the field. The reader do not need to know every shade of purple each of the threads in a purple coat has. It's purple. Let the reader's imagination work out the details. ( )

I wouldn't have bothered finishing this if it weren't a giveaway win. I guess my initial debate over whether or not I would like it was valid, because 👎 ( )

* I got this book for review from the publisher*

I thought this book was soild read. I really liked the characters and found the rag tag group of heroes to be a fun concept. I also thought he world was a fun one with a mix fantsay and also science fiction elements. I really liked the characters. I also though this book was super fast paced. But i struggled a bit with the plot and especially towards the end. I liked this book, it did not wow me. But i will still check out the sequel!! ( )
