The National Geographic Society brought together an impressive array of experts from a variety of specialities to produce this work. "Everyday Life in Bible Times, not only tells how people lived then, but gives examples of how people of those lands live now. For instance, the text beside a photograph of a woman In Hebron wearing a veil explains the significance of it. Then it goes on the say that today's "[w]omen toiling in desert and farmlands. . .find that simply averting their faces to avoid the gaze of men works just as well as the veil." p. 97 The book is well indexed.

Book description
Alive, realy alive...such is the ancient world you enter within these 448 color-packed pages. A world alive with the clamor of marketplaces to man's early cities, where merchants hawk pots, lyres, and melons, and a slave sells for less than the price of a draft animal.
