Have you ever met someone who constantly asks questions? Have you ever met someone who can't be still? Maybe they can take a lesson from the Very Impatient Caterpillar from Ross Burach's book. The impatient caterpillar wants to become a butterfly. However, he can't seem to wait for the transformation to be complete due to his impatience. Will he find inner patience and become a butterfly or will his impatience get in the way? First, he ruins his transformation because he can not stand how long it is taking. He demands to know when he will be a butterfly. His friend tries to counsel him about being patient, but he does not listen. After some soul searching, he finds it in himself to remain calm and patient. He is rewarded for his patience in the end. His reward is his transformation into a butterfly. However, his newfound patience does not last long. As the butterflies are flying away, he is bothering his friends with constant questions about where they are going. The book teaches children the importance of patience and how being patient will lead to a reward. The book also demonstrates that patience is fleeting for some and it is a skill that can be worked on. ( )

this would be a good book to use in a science lesson. ( )

This book is good for a chuckle. It’s time for the caterpillar to transform into a butterfly, but time is standing still. How ever will he make it 2 weeks? In a way this makes me think of the COVID lock down. Can we go back to normal yet? ( )

Two weeks is a long, long time to wait to become a butterfly.

This book is a great introduction to the life cycle of caterpillars. The book reinforces patience as well as describing metamorphosis through humor. It is easy to relate to because it teaches a great life lesson. Patience is key! ( )
