The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a beautiful, fantastical tale about good versus evil, lies versus truth, and other epic qualities and themes. This is the first book in the Chronicles of Narnia series (though some, including C.S. Lewis, prefer a chronological order to the original publishing order). Regardless of the order read, this series is not one to read only once. ( ) This book is a classic, that many people have read over the years. It is a story about 4 siblings who wander into a wardrobe only to find that it leads into a whole different world, Narnia. Once they are there they find themselves in a great adventure to save Narnia from the evil White Witch who has put Narnia into a never-ending winter that never has a Christmas. They meet Mr. and Mrs. Beaver who help teach them of their journey and take them to Aslan who is the true King. They battle the White Witch with the help of Aslan and the people of Narnia and become the Kings and Queens that they were meant to be, and then head back through the wardrobe only to discover no time has passed in their world. This book is a great adventure story that would be fun for a read aloud because of the way it is written. The author wrote it as if it was your grandfather telling you the story and keeps you wanting to hear more. It's a great adventure story that is about good fighting evil and doing what it is right. The book is also great to expose children to the language that was used years ago and gives an opportunity to discuss that language and how things change over the years. no reviews | add a review
