It is stated early in this fine manual that the author's are working under the assumption the user of the book will be aiming at a concurs restoration. That alone will give an indication of the amount of detail presented throughout the nine chapters and four appendices. The initial chapters focus on selection and authentication of a project car. It is questionable whether any restoration of the nature illustrated here can progress in any logical sequence but the chapters are so arranged as to think that might be so. The photo illustrations add a great deal to the words in guiding the user through a particular project. Detail after detail is provided to help in avoiding costly and time consuming mistakes. The manual will be useful not only to the restorer but to those who are contemplating a restoration and planning with a third party as to what course to proceed upon. ( )

When I first saw this book come up, I thought 'I wish they had included the '68-'69 models'. Now that I've read this, I'm glad they didn't. It would have been information overload. Loads of info and many pictures. Once again a minor annoyance. I do wish they would sometimes put an arrow on the picture to show what is being referred to.
In any case, anyone wanting to restore their Chevelle, whether as just a driver or a 100 point restoration would do well to get this book. It would be a tremendous help.

On a more general error note, there's something that pops up here that I've seen in other books from this publisher. Somehow the word 'orientated' has got into their spellchecker as an acceptable word. Not so. The correct spelling is 'oriented'. On page 185 of this book the incorrect spelling is used in the main text, but the correct one is used in one of the photo captions. ( )

The Car Tech book, Chevelle Restoration and Authenticity Guide, 1970-1972 is a must have for anyone planning to build a “concourse correct” Chevelle. The book touches on everything including a whole chapter on acquiring a car to build or purchase one already restored. Great photographs and charts throughout, from assembly line paint markings to rebuilding engines and transmissions. The authors, Dale McIntosh and Rick Nelson even included a chapter (9) titled Details, Facts and Myths which is full of great information, charts, and photos on differences found in the three years. As usual, Car Tech turns out a great book. With in depth details for restoration and a guide to authenicate 1970 - 1972 Chevrolet Chevelles, this is a very useful book. I would also recommend for anyone interested in muscle cars. I received Chevelle Restoration and Authenticity Guide 1970-1972 as part of LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program in exchange for this review. ( )

Chevelle Restoration and Authenticity Guide 1970 - 1972 is another well produced publication by CarTech. This is a reference guide on how to identify an authentic Chevelle model you are acquiring plus a step by step guide to restore the automobile. Each page is filled with useful detailed writing and appropriate color photos. Must have if you are serious about a true restoration ( )
