Series Info/Source: This is the 2nd volume in the Gideon Falls series. I bought this book.

Thoughts: This book was just as awesome as the first book. The mystery is getting even more creepy and complex and I am super curious to see how the story continues. Norton Sinclair finds enough pieces of trash from the Black Barn to finally rebuild its doorway, meanwhile our small town Catholic Priest gets drawn deeper into the mysterious history of the Black Barn. When they both venture into the Black Barn, very strange and disturbing things start to happen.

The story here is fascinating and dark and disturbing. However, that’s not what I love best about this series...I absolutely love the artwork here. The panels are laid out in such creative and interesting ways; they are absolutely stunning. You can tell a lot of thought went into their layout. It is just so artistically done and had such an impact; it matches the story perfectly!

My Summary (5/5): Overall this is the most fascinating horror graphic novel series I have read since “Locke and Key” and I am absolutely loving it! I would definitely recommend it to fans of horror graphic novels. I can’t wait to continue the series. ( )

Whoa.

You know how sometimes you read something and, while you're not quite sure how it's going to go, you have a general sense of the direction? And most of the time, you're right?

Yeah, not this time. The story took a bigass left turn in this volume that I did not see coming. And I love when that happens.

That being said, the next volume will likely be the one that either absolutely nails this twist, or spins the entire story off the rails.

Let's hope this team is as adept as the ones on both Saga and Paper Girls at twisting the story into knots, all the while just knocking it out of the park.

In the meantime? Hell yeah, I'm enjoying this story so much. ( )

The art is just amazing, and the page layouts are mindblowing. Probably better to read in print than on Hoopla as I did... ( )
