I have read some other Shel Silverstein books before but not this one. I really enjoyed it. It has a collection of short and medium-length poems. They are all silly and nonsensical. The illustrations that go along with the poems enhance them and they are silly themselves. There is a unique art style in all of these illustrations. They look like sketches and are all in black and white. Silverstein uses a mix of rhyming words and words that do not rhyme in his poems. This book would be great for introducing young readers to a style of poetry. I would love to use this book to read a poem or two a day to a class during the end of class time.

A Light in the Attic is a collection of children's poetry from Shel Silverstein. I read it as a kid and I have read it again more recently. The poems are creative, funny, and relatable for kids. Shel Silverstein is a prolific author and this is one of the books that show exactly that. A Light in the Attic also has different illustrations for every poem, also made by Silverstein. ( )

A Light in the Attic is a set of poems written by Shel SIlverton. These poems are funny, sad, creative, relatable, and all other adjectives you could think of. Each poem is unique and has something new to offer. These poems can be enjoyed by any young reader or adult. Since each poem is so unique, this is a great book for literacy devices. This poem book can be enjoyed by third graders and up and daily read aloud of a single poem each day would be a fun classroom activity. ( )

Mr. Silverstein's work remains a must for lovers of good verse for children. Quite like nobody else, he is still a master of delectable outrage and the proprietor of a surprisingly finely tuned sensibility.
