The book "A Trip to the Doctor" is a great book for children who may have fear or anxiety of going to the doctor's office for a check up. I liked the book for two reasons. One of the reasons I liked the book was for the informational aspect it had for children. The book was very relatable and the story of Jake's doctor appointment is much like the stories of many every day children. The story goes over every term and procedure that a child would generally encounter in their doctor's office, explains each instrument, and gives tips for being healthy. The second reason I liked the book was because of its language. The text is very simple for children to understand and is very clear and explanatory. Words that may be hard to pronounce for children are given in their phonetic spelling. Words that the author considers new vocabulary is also spotlighted on each page and put on the picture word list in the back of the book. Overall, the big idea of this book is to give children information about the doctor's office and show them that it is not as scary as it seems! ( ) no reviews | add a review
