A novel woven from the author's experiences as a journalist in South Africa, where the promise of the end of apartheid hasn't been fulfilled for the majority. The story revolves around land reform, where the former land ownership by the white ruling class has been replaced by foreigners who move out the local farmers and corruption is rife. The main character is Lindi, a white South African by birth who returns to investigate and is caught up in the political turmoil and violence surrounding land reform. I thought her character less well written than others, such as Kagiso but it shone an interesting, if depressing light on South Africa. ( ) no reviews | add a review
