A great read, a great twist, and a main character that finds herself finding who she really is, not who she thought she was. The first Jodi Picoult book I read and I think still my favourite. A fabulous ride! Could not put this book down. I give it four and a half stars! My first try at Jodi Picoult. I think this was a pretty good one to try since I don't like sad stuff and this one was more of a mystery. I thought the Amish element was pretty well done here. I liked that the people seemed to be both good and bad since sometimes I feel like the Amish are overly romanticized in fiction. The mystery wasn't too complex and really the trust seemed to be about the psychological effects of the whole situation. The only thing that really bugged me what the continual switch between first person and third person. If you can't tell the whole story from your main character's POV then just use 3rd person. no reviews | add a review

This was good, a bit slow through most of it, but even so, I liked the story enough that I was close to rating it 4 stars. The very end made up my mind to give it that extra boost up to 4. Because Ellie ended up living on Katie’s farm with her and her family (part of the bail conditions), it was interesting to learn a lot more about Amish culture. (
