Definitely an improvement from the first installment of the series but I still still wasn't wow by the characters nor storyline. This obviously falls under the instant love category and everything just moved too quickly for my liking. I think the only up side about this read was the whole divorce drama, otherwise it was a pretty mediocre read. ( )

Tempest Cassidy is having a few bad months since she walked in on her husband and his girlfriend in her bed; she's been arrested a few times in incidents based on that discovery. Sadly, one of the few people in town still being nice to her is the new bouncer at the Pink Pony, Cage Erickson.
I really liked Cage. He's an ex-UFC fighter who was injured and is now trying to find his way. He's good with Tempest, acting as her friend before he tries a romance with her and she badly needs a friend. Yes, Jennifer (Cletus Winston's wife) is a friend and her employer, and she has her cousin and his wife, but the rest of the town seems against her. The town's unfriendliness was an off-note with me; Green Valley is a small town, but generally, I can't see why all those church-going people sided with Asher, the husband, and his girlfriend. Yes, Tempest's antics were a bit much maybe, but no more than any country song about a scorned woman would advocate. The other discordant part was the scene during the reunion. I'm on Tempest's side, but the stuff she spilled there was over the top.
There were some funny bits with the muffin naming, but I give this book 3 1/2 stars due to those few bits that were off-putting to me. ( )
